How much does it cost

We’re committed to creating an event in which we would want to participate. That applies to the event itself AND pricing.

First and foremost, there are no hidden fees. Grit ‘N Wit distinguishes itself by incorporating mental challenges, but it turns out calculating the price you'll pay at other events in light of processing, insurance, and made up fees is a mental challenge in and of itself. We've simplified registration by having the advertised price be the amount you pay…what a foreign concept.

Second, our price increases are significantly less than the competition. Most races adopt tiered pricing to encourage early sign-ups. That makes sense. What doesn't make sense is paying $10 or $15 more because you signed up a day or two after your buddy. At Grit 'N Wit the earlier you register the better, but if you’re a day late, you’ll only pay $0.25 more than your buddy did yesterday rather than $15. Prices increase by $0.25 every day. You’ll know what’s coming and when.

Third, we recognize that you don’t have to roll deep to be a team. Tough Mudder discontinued team rebates as of August 2014, and other events require teams of 8 or more to receive a discount. That's quite the entourage! At Grit ‘N Wit, we want to you to bring your friends and family and we want to reward all teams. Here's how it breaks down:

Team of 1: No discount, because there’s no I in team…pretty sure there’s a poster out there confirming that.
Teams of 2: 5%
Teams of 3: 10%
Teams of 4: 15%
Teams of 5: 20%
Teams of 6+: 25%

*Discounts are for each member of the team, and will be rebated after the event is over so the final team number can be tallied*

How can I volunteer?

To join us as a volunteer, email us. Those interested in volunteering and participating will receive 50% off their entry fee. If you are volunteering and participating, you must run in the final heat.

Our Mission

Grit & Wit, LLC is a Connecticut grown company committed to the development of healthy, engaged communities. We promote mental and physical fitness via uniquely challenging obstacle course events and aim to support local communities.

Our Team

It all started in 2011, when Katie and James began participating in obstacle course races (OCRs).

We loved the challenges, but not the long-distance drives to Massachusetts or Vermont. At the time, OCRs in Connecticut were few and far between. We wanted to bring an event to our own backyard and address an important element that we found missing from traditional OCRs: the mental aspect. Inspired by MTV's The Challenge, we began planning an OCR that would test participants both physically and mentally. Thus, Grit 'N Wit was born.

At Grit 'N Wit, we are dedicated to engaging and supporting host communities. We partner with a variety of local businesses and community organizations to celebrate local assets.

We are proud to have realized Grit 'N Wit in the city in which the concept was born! As we continue to grow, we look forward to bringing Grit ‘N Wit to a location near you!

Our Cause

The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation (FOJ) is committed to improving the quality of life for children and their families who are battling pediatric brain tumors and raising awareness about this insidious disease.
