Grit ‘N Wit is New England’s first 5K obstacle course where brain meets brawn. Other obstacle course series test you physically, but at Grit ‘N Wit that’s only half the challenge. Take on 18+ obstacles over a 3-mile course designed to challenge you both physically and mentally. Prove that you really are the total package, grit and wit.

When is Grit ‘N Wit

Grit ‘N Wit will take place April 25, 2015 from 9:00AM – 12:00PM.

Teams are not required, but are highly encouraged (see below for additional information).

How much does it cost

Sign-up early and save. Registration opened at $47 and increases just 25 cents a day vs. a $10-15 price hike like other races. So, don’t worry if you’re a day late. You’ll know what’s coming and when.

More friends, more savings…and you don’t have to roll deep to be a team. Sign up as a team for additional savings. Discounts apply to teams of 2 or more!
Teams of 2: 5%
Teams of 3: 10%
Teams of 4: 15%
Teams of 5: 20%
Teams of 6+: 25%

*Discounts apply to each member of the team. Reimbursements will be provided following the event so that team size may be tallied. To sign up as a team, simply enter your team name at registration. Individuals may join a team at any time.*

At Grit ‘N Wit we’re committed to creating an event in which we would want to participate. That applies to the event itself AND pricing. In addition to modest increases to encourage early sign-ups and a broad definition of team, we’re getting rid of hidden fees.

No hidden fees. The price you see is the price you pay…a novel concept considering other races have registration fees, insurance fees, parking fees, spectator fees, bag check fees, and made up fees.

We’re all about transparency. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at gritnwit@gmail.com.

What do I get for participating

Participants receive an event t-shirt, swag bag, free beer (from any of the 5 breweries joining us April 25 - Back East, City Steam, Half Full, Thomas Hooker, and Two Roads), and the satisfaction of knowing you’re supporting a great cause. A portion of proceeds benefits the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, committed to improving the quality of life for children and families battling pediatric brain tumors.

Finishers receive a pair of Grit ‘N Wit sunglasses.

How can I volunteer?

To join us as a volunteer, email us. Those interested in volunteering and participating will receive 50% off their entry fee. If you are volunteering and participating, you must run in the final heat.

Our Mission

Grit & Wit, LLC is a Connecticut grown company committed to the development of healthy, engaged communities. We promote mental and physical fitness via uniquely challenging obstacle course events and aim to support local communities.

Our Team
Co-founders of Grit 'N Wit New England's First 5k Obstacle Course Where Brain Meets Brawn

It all started in 2011, when Katie and James began participating in obstacle course races (OCRs).

We loved the challenges, but not the long-distance drives to Massachusetts or Vermont. At the time, OCRs in Connecticut were few and far between. We wanted to bring an event to our own backyard and address an important element that we found missing from traditional OCRs: the mental aspect. Inspired by MTV's The Challenge, we began planning an OCR that would test participants both physically and mentally. Thus, Grit 'N Wit was born.

At Grit 'N Wit, we are dedicated to engaging and supporting host communities. We partner with a variety of local businesses and community organizations to celebrate local assets.

We are proud to have realized Grit 'N Wit in the city in which the concept was born! As we continue to grow, we look forward to bringing Grit ‘N Wit to a location near you!

Our Cause
